Chester County Food Bank: June 2012

We had the privilege of delivering 211 pounds of non-perishable food items to the West Chester Food Bank for distribution. In Chester County alone, 70,000 people go to bed hungry. More than 1 in 10 people in this area suffer from hunger! The West Chester County Food Bank has developed an innovative and dynamic approach to ending hunger in our area. They have created a program that in 2011 provided 200,000 pounds of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables to meal providers and individuals. One of their many goals is to provide people with nutritionally rich foods. They have a commercial kitchen which allows them the capacity to preserve and package fresh foods to be distributed at a later time. On February 28, 2012 Clifford's Gift held a pizza/bingo night at Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The evening was both inspirational and fun. Thank you to the men and women who shared their time and stories with us. Our prayers and positive thoughts are with you always. A big thank you to Frankie, Luke, Devon, Mary, Ashley and Catherine for taking the time to serve others!

 

On March 3, 2012 Clifford's Gift traveled to Virginia Beach, Virginia to take part in a very special dinner. We teamed up with an organization called Stand Up For Kids (www.standupforkids.org) to provide a few hours of safety and a fresh meal. Their mission is simplistic yet very powerful. Volunteers go to the streets to find, stabilize and otherwise help homeless at-risk teenagers and young adults improve their lives. Through their efforts, Stand Up For Kids shows these deserving individuals that someone does care about their safety and well-being.  Thank you to my ECU girlies for their enthusiasm and laughter. Spending time with these young men and women had a positive impact on all of us. There was one young man (pictured below) whose fighting spirit, personal story and musical gift touched us all. I wish Blaze much success on his continued journey!

Update: Congratulations to Jodi and Kristine for raising over $25,000 for Children's Hospital of Boston's Miles for Miracles Program. Proud of you!

Kristine and Jodi are running the Boston Marathon and they need your help!

 

We have been best friends since high school and they need your help. In April they are running the Boston Marathon.
